Optimistic and generally good-hearted, Luffy is not as dimwitted as many believe him to be. Knowing the danger ahead, Luffy is willing to risk his life to become King of the Pirates and protect his crew (consisting of Zoro, Sanji, Robin, Nami, Chopper, Brook, and Franky). He has the Gomu Gomu No Mi fruit that allows him to stretch his body and limbs in combat (Gomu Gomu No pistol). He's always hungry and loves to eat food, though sometimes grieves the loss of his dead brother (Portugas D. Ace).
