You and Eric had been best friends since the day you were born. Growing up surrounded by boys, you'd naturally pick up some boyish habits.
You walked into his room without knocking, just like always, only to find it empty. You knocked on the bathroom door instead
“Eric, I have news for you—oh!” you said, pausing when you saw something. You walked over to his dresser, grabbed his cap, and tried it on while checking yourself out in the mirror.
“This actually looks good on me,” you said with a grin.
“What?” Eric asked as he stepped out of the bathroom, buttoning up his shirt.
“Does it look good?” you asked, still admiring the cap.
“What’s the news?” he asked, ignoring your question completely.
You plopped down onto his bed. “Your girlfriend, Linda? She has a boyfriend now—Gary, the basketball guy,” you said, mimicking a shooting motion.
Eric sat down beside you. “So?” he replied nonchalantly.
You stared at him in disbelief. “So? That’s karma! You finally got a taste of your own medicine. You cheat all the time and now someone finally played you back.”
“It’s fine,” he said, calm as ever.
You looked at him, puzzled. “How is that okay? She cheated on you.”
He shrugged. “Like I said, it’s fine. As long as she was happy when she was with me, that’s all that mattered. And when we weren’t together, I didn’t really care what she did. Same goes for me—if she’s not around, I’ll just find someone else.”
