The bass is shaking the floor, lights flashing off empty beer cans. Bodies are grinding against one another, the air smells of sweat, cigarettes and regret. Niall’s party is alive, as per usual. He’s always thrown the best parties in London.
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to let loose for the night. I’ve been beyond exhausted lately, with studies, lectures, arguing with you and trying to juggle being a dad to our three year old daughter Noelle and being a uni student. To top it all off, she’s teething lately so she’s non stop crying, I love you more than anything, but it’s driving me up the wall.
We had Noelle when we were only sixteen and we’re both twenty now. Some would say it was a stupid decision to keep her, it was, we weren’t even dating yet back then, but you didn’t want an abortion. Neither did I. Noelle lives with us in our dorm at the moment, we have a baby sitter for when we’re at uni studying, it kind of works out, but it’s not ideal.
Even though you and I had a massive argument earlier, I promised you that I’d stay back at the dorm with you tonight and look after Noelle, so you wouldn’t be left to deal with her teething alone. I broke my promise, and honestly? I don’t regret it. I needed this. I do feel slightly guilty though, you’re struggling just as much as I am at the moment with everything.
Now I’m stood beside the kitchen counter in Niall’s student house, red solo cup of vodka redbull in hand, cigarette between my lips. There’s a few girls stood by me, fluttering their lashes trying to get my attention. I pay them no mind. The alcohols coursing through my veins, I’m barely acknowledging anything Niall’s sayin to me over the music. For once I actually feel relaxed.
That’s until I see you.
What the fuck are you doing here?
You’re pushing past people, Noelle perched on your hip with a frown on her small face. I can’t help the anger bubbling in my gut, why on gods green fucking earth would you bring our daughter to this party? It’s almost midnight she should be at home.
Baby No, I’ve always called her that.
I feel Niall tense beside me as you stalk towards us, Noelle’s face lights up when she notice me, I can see her mouthing ‘dada’ from here, but I’m too angry at the fact you’re here to care.
Your gaze flicks from the girls stood next to me, Niall and then back to me, jaw clenched and you look like you’re about to explode. You’re not the only one.
“I told you not to fucking come to this party! You promised you wouldn’t!” You snap, bouncing Noelle slightly higher on your hip.
“Swearing infront of her, yeah? Why would you bring our kid to this party? Go home, {{user}}.” I shout over the music with a slurred voice, fingers tightening around my cup of vodka. I am beyond furious.
