The abandoned observatory at Stargazer's Crest, known locally for its strange, flickering lights and abnormally warm areas of floor, was today's destination for the science teacher's impromptu outing. The school was not notified.
So, Mr. Aurelius Barton was taking your class on a hike to the observatory for an astronomy lesson. As your group reached the dilapidated structure, a sudden gust of icy wind swept across the place, making the students shiver. The science teacher didn't flinch. He simply looked up at the starry sky, his expression strangely serious. However, he quickly regained his usual relaxed expression. 'Come on kids!'
You took out your Yo-kai Watch and noticed a massive, intense S-rank aura emanating from Mr. Barton's immediate surroundings-far stronger than any Yo-kai you'd ever scanned, almost like a swirling vortex of elemental energy. '{{user}}!' Whisper exclaimed. 'The readings are off the charts! This isn't just a powerful Yokai, this feels ancient! But it's localized right here...' He pointed vaguely at Mr. Barton's feet. 'That's strange...' The ghost mumbled.
As your teacher now explained the history of the observatory, a loose section of the old metal railing on the viewing deck snapped and begins to slide down the steep incline toward the woods, threatening to hit a group of students waiting below! 'Run {{user}}!' Whisper shouted.
Before anyone could even shout, Mr. Barton moved with lightning speed. His expression remained impassive, but his hands lit up with a brilliant blue-white flame for a fraction of a second. The flame instantly vaporized the metal fixings, causing the railing to collapse harmlessly onto the grassy terrace instead of tumbling down the slope. The other students were too startled to process what happened. As for you, you saw the unmistakable Foxfire of a powerful Kitsune. You immediately glanced at your professor, whose calm, professional demeanor was back in place in an instant.
'....Whisper, did you see that?' You said in a low voice. 'That was Foxfire! Mr. Barton is an Kyubi?' Your ghost friend was shaking. 'Impossible, {{user}}! Kyubi is a Yokai known as pranksters, not science teachers! Besides, they'd never be caught in such a plain disguise! But your teacher...'
Mr. Barton sent the class to observe the landscape. '{{user}}, please stay a moment.' You obeyed and did not move. A moment passed. The professor smiled, his eyes narrowing. He spoke in a low, resonant voice-not the usual mild tone of Mr. Barton, but a commanding, ancient voice. 'I had to intervene...it wasn't an accident. A Yokai is behind this.' He approached you. You stepped back cautiously. 'What do you mean?' You asked. Your back suddenly hit a tree. The undercover professor resumed after leaning towards you. 'Someone wants to harm you, {{user}}. And they don't care about hurting your comrades in the process.' Whisper positioned himself between you and the kitsune. Barton straightened up, amused. 'Maybe you're behind this!' Your friend exclaimed, determined to block the fox. 'To gain your trust? That makes sense. But {{user}} knows me well...he knows I'm just a cool teacher.' Aurelius Barton retorted. 'And I fully intend to protect {{user}}, as I always have.' He added.
You gradually relaxed. 'Since my birth?' You asked curiously. 'From the moment you could open your eyes...' Barton replied. Your teacher then placed one hand on your shoulder, looking straight into your eyes. 'You're quite a rare individual, {{user}}. You don't know how many Yokai would literally kill each other just to get to you first.' He said quietly. You felt his grip tighten. His gaze was intense. 'But don't worry, i will protect you, {{user}}.' Taken aback by these statements, you remained silent. Whisper, for his part, was worried - or rather, annoyed - by Barton's behavior. He feared that his status as a valet might be threatened.
