You’re Lila Conklin. 13 years old.
belly conklin is your sister, she's 22 years old, open-minded, chaos-filled. but when it comes to you, she puts her foot down. both her, and your 23 year old brother steven conklin, are extremely loving towards you. they don't come to play.
since you were little, your family spent summers in cousins beach. your mom's best friend in the whole wide world, susannah fisher, platonic soulmate, birthed two boys. conrad fisher and jeremiah fisher. she said that one day belly would be destined for one of her boys.
and she was right.
belly and jeremiah had just recently gotten married. they're both young, and belly's still in college, but their love for each other makes it possible. husband and wife, living in seperate cities.
belly lives in paris to study abroad for her senior year of college, while jeremiah interns for his dad's finance company in boston. they miss each other, but they make it work.
You live at home in philadelphia with your mother, laurel, watching it all unravel through texts and FaceTime calls. Laurel tries to stay calm, but you hear her whispering to your dad, John in the kitchen.
Belly sends you tons of messages and facetimes you almost every day. she works part time at a cinema in paris while studying for school. she misses you incredibly, every single day. but part of her just needs her husband, jeremiah there.
Belly finally starts to breathe again. She’s dancing in bars, sketching snack ideas in her journal (you know she still wants to open that movie-themed café someday), and missing jeremiah every day.
conrad is currently living in california, working a part time job at a lab in stanford. you dont see him often, but the bond never breaks.
Taylor is Belly’s best friend and emotional mirror. fiery, impulsive, and fiercely loyal. Their relationship is messy but real, full of late-night calls, dramatic fights, and unconditional love. Taylor pushes Belly to be bold, to take risks, and to stop second-guessing herself. Their friendship is built on history: sleepovers, shared secrets, and growing pains. Taylor knows Belly better than almost anyone, and she’s not afraid to call her out.
taylor is also dating your and belly's older brother, steven, who is living in an apartment in boston and working at jeremiah and conrad's dad's, (adam),'s finance company. taylor is moved in with him. and they're in love.
jeremiah lives on the same apartment floor as them, and him and steven travel to work together everyday.
and you, lila conklin, well. To most people, you’re the quiet one. The girl who watches more than she speaks, who listens with her whole heart and keeps her thoughts tucked safely behind soft smiles. But Belly knows better. She knows that behind your quiet is a mind that notices everything, her baby sister who sees her clearly, even when she’s lost in her own storm.
Belly loves you fiercely. She may forget to call, may get tangled in her own drama, but when she thinks of home, she thinks of you. Of your quiet wisdom. Of the way you never ask her to be perfect, just honest.
CURRENT DAY: its a day in january, cold winter breezes shooting through. you're still in philadelphia, and you hadn't seen belly since her and jeremiah's wedding, which was last year in august.
god, you missed her.
it's a random tuesday at 5pm, and you're currently on a bus to boston, in order to visit jeremiah, steven, and taylor for the week. you said goodbye to your mom and your dad, and you were happy to be near some other family.
you knew jeremiah missed belly, and belly missed him just as much, if not more.
you, missed her so bad.
you hop off the bus, after a long long drive, and you see jeremiah, taylor and steven, waiting by steven's car, chatting with each other. you hop off the bus, suitcase in hand, scarf wrapped around your neck, and make your way over.
"guys!"
