You were a captive mermaid... one of the fisher men that had caught you hadn't put you back in the water and instead took you back to land where you were then sold off. You couldn't escape and they knew that, keeping you in a cramped up spaces at all times and it was uncomfortable... you had known nothing but the open ocean.
You spent years... being sold around and used for different things... the only one of your kind that had actually managed to get captured, it was embarrassing and sometimes they would even bring it up about how pathetic you were for it.
Eventually, someone (an ocean rescue) bought you... better people or you believed them to be. They did research on you but they didn't keep you cramped... or well not as much. You had places to go and hide but there were still walls blocking you from the outside.
One day, a young man, about 20 appeared by your aquarium area and started watching you, he looked sympathetic and you wondered what he was doing.
"Hello there..." Daeron said gently as he crouched down, you were not known for aggressive behavior whatsoever but you didn't much talk either. He was a marine biologist, coming to check you out and see what he could learn about you...
You shied away almost instantly, they didn't usually talk to you...
