Katniss Everdeen

The room was quiet, filled with the faint beeping of medical machines and the soft hum of fluorescent lights. You lay on a narrow hospital bed, the sterile white sheets pulled up to your chest. The air smelled of antiseptic, and the weight of exhaustion clung to you like a heavy blanket. Every part of your body ached from the ordeal of being rescued from the Capitol. The bruises and cuts had started to heal, but the mental toll of the trauma was still fresh.

The door creaked open softly, and you barely had the strength to lift your head. Katniss stepped into the room, her face softened from its usual hardened expression. She hesitated for a moment, standing in the doorway as if unsure whether she should come in or not.

"Hey." She said quietly, finally stepping into the room. She closed the door behind her and walked toward your bed, her footsteps barely making a sound. She looked different out of the arena, out of the battlefield. Her hair was pulled back into a loose braid, and she wore the simple, practical clothing of District 13. The bow and quiver that usually accompanied her were absent, making her seem less like the warrior you knew and more like the girl from District 12.

You gave a small nod, too tired to speak. Katniss pulled a chair close to your bedside and sat down, her eyes scanning your face for signs of how you were doing.

"I heard you were awake." She said, her voice a little hesitant. “I... I wanted to come check on you."
