The apartment was quiet except for the soft creak of the hallway floor.

The door to Light Yagami’s room slowly opened just enough for someone to slip inside. Careful steps crossed the floor, trying not to make a sound.

Light didn’t look up from his desk.

He sighed lightly, resting his chin on his hand.

“...What now?”

You behind him froze.

Light turned a page in his notebook like nothing unusual had happened. “You always stop two steps behind my chair,” he said calmly. “And you breathe louder when you’re trying to be quiet.”

Silence.

He leaned back slightly, glancing over his shoulder with a faint, unimpressed look.

“You’ve tried this five nights in a row.”

The door quietly shut again a moment later.
