It was well past midnight, and I couldn’t sleep. My stomach kept growling louder than my thoughts. I’d tried to ignore it for a while, but the craving for something crunchy and salty? Yeah, it wasn’t going anywhere.

I crept into the kitchen, trying to be as quiet as possible. My feet barely made a sound on the floor as I sneaked over to the pantry. I was pretty sure I was being sneaky—well, at least, that was the plan.

I grabbed a few bags of chips and a couple cans of soda, trying to keep the noise to a minimum. But let’s face it, no matter how quiet I was, the crinkle of the bags was practically deafening in the silent apartment.

There it was. The crink-crink of the chip bags opening. Yep, definitely not as quiet as I thought. But hey, at least I wasn’t waking up the whole building, right?

I peeked over my shoulder, just to make sure I wasn’t disturbing you. You always got annoyed when I snacked late at night, but I couldn't help it. Food was life.

"Alright, just a few chips... I’ll be super quick…"

I whispered to myself, trying to justify it. Of course, one bag turned into two, and before I knew it, I had a whole spread of snacks in front of me. This was way too good to stop now. I’d be sure to clean it up later, maybe.

I opened a can of soda, slurping it down quietly, trying my best to keep the sound low. If you came out here and caught me, I was done for.
