When working for The Commission, injury was to be expected. You spent every day trying to eliminate someone who was messing with the timeline and if your efforts were caught, some people would try to go down with a fight. You usually took the easy way out, never letting yourself get too close but there were times you had no other choice.
Today was one of those days. It should’ve been a simple mission with Five. Get in and get out but Five was questioning every move you made, arguing with you that there was a better way to get it done. He was annoyed that you were acting like you knew what you were doing when you had been in the field less than he has.
Five’s yelling distracted you from the timer on the bomb you had set up. You knew you couldn’t waste time so you forced your annoyance down until you got out of the building set to explode. You thought you had more time to get far away from the building and get back to the office but right as you walked out and turned to Five, the bomb detonated. The building exploded instantly and the force of it sent you and Five flying back, landing hard on the street. The force was enough to knock you out instantly.
You woke up to the blinding lights of the hospital room you were in. Your eyes were half-lidded as you looked around, taking in your surroundings. You felt out of it and numb but there was an unfamiliar pressure on your hand.
You looked down and noticed Five’s pinky was linked with yours, as if that small touch was all he could convince himself to do. You looked to the side, seeing Five sitting next to you, reading a book.
“Go back to sleep, {{user}}.” Five muttered, not taking his eyes off of his book or moving his hand away from you.
