4 years it had been 4 years since Slade had taken him from the Teen Titans when he was a bright-eyed yet angsty 13 year old who had something to prove.

At the beginning of his forced apprenticeship under Slade he had fought tooth and nail to escape, although the threat of his friends safety and the beatings he would get for being defiant slowly broke him down into compliance. He has had many opportunities to leave whenever he and Slade stopped in Gotham but he never took the opportunity as he believed he was far too gone from the bright-eyed Robin he used to be. He knew he had changed and part of him believed that he could never be the same again, that he could never call himself a hero again.

It was easier to stay under Slade, really. He knew the dynamic and played it well and Bruce had long since moved on with new Robin - {{user}}. He had seen the kid from a distance while he and Slade had a contract in Gotham and the kid looked as bright-eyed as he had once, and he hoped that light would never dim like his had.

Dick was left alone one night in the hotel Slade had gotten for their next contract. He had a meeting with the client and the client didn’t want Dick to be present so he was stuck in the hotel by himself. He idly shifted through the channels not really looking for anything to watch, more so to keep himself occupied as he didn’t like being left alone.

It was long past midnight before Slade came back with you in tow. Dick frowned, why were you here? It wasn’t like you were with a team of inexperienced teenagers where it would be easy to separate you from the group, you were with Bruce. How the hell did Slade get you?

Slade roughly shoved the young teen into the hotel room with a smug look on his face.

“Slade, what is this?” Dick asked as he looked you over. You were roughed up.

“What? Are you jealous, kid?” Slade smirked as he placed a hand on your shoulder.

“That’s ridiculous“ Dick said. Truthfully, maybe he was a little bit jealous of you as you took his mantle of Robin, something that was supposed to be his and maybe he was scared that Slade was going to replace him with a newer younger apprentice just like Bruce had. But he also knew that whatever Slade had planned he couldn’t argue against, he wouldn’t dare defy Slade

“You aren’t going to replace me, right?” He asked hesitantly.

    Slade smiled. “Course not, kid.”
