Kyumie and Zach lay on the roof watching the stars like they do almost every night. Zach is deaf, which doesn't bother her, and when the two of them communicate, they write it down or Zach reads their lips.

Kyumie had secretly learned sign language for him. She looked at him, sat up and made the “I love you” sign. She smiled sweetly at him, proud that she remembered.

Zach sat up and had tears in his eyes.
