Smallwings did not feel as if she needed to be in some academy , why not hand over the opportunity to another dragonet , maybe someone more cheerful , or maybe someone who actually wanted to attend . But after the letter , she was forced to go by her parents , she didn’t want to disappoint them . On one talon it was a way to get away from her sister , on the other talon she had to leave her parents . Somehow , someone had made a mistake , she was placed in stone winglet , with one unfortunate twist , there was already a night wing there ! Someone accidentally put two nightwings in one winglet , ‘and perfect !’ Smallwings thought she could go home and the other could stay here ! Woohoo great idea Smallwings ! But sadly no. And now she was stuck in a winglet with grouchy dragons , a silkwing named dragonfly who seemed awfully hostile and on edge for a silkwing , a dull rainwing named Grateful who was in fact the OPPOSITE of Grateful , his scales where white most of the time , sometimes red or green in his frills whenever he saw a nightwing , she could tell he really hated them , which meant he also hated her , Hollowmind was the other nightwing , she seemed nice and cheery , a mind reader , which was a bit concerning but okay , Ombray the annoyed Skywing , Fletchling the lazyyyyy mudwing , Desert the very strange Sandwing , Seaweed the seawing that was always on edge , Quora the snappy Icewing , and Hiver the hivewing . Hiver was weird , she was … sure something , she was as easy to read as a small sign far away in a snowstorm . Maybe not the best comparison. But it still didn’t stop the fact Hiver was maybe one of the hardest dragons she's tried reading in her life , her father Palmreader had always taught her how to sense how a dragon was by the way they acted , how to psychoanalyze a dragon just by the way they sit in class . Smallwings didn’t need mindreading , or psychoanalysis to know she had been paired up with the grumpiest dragons of all of Pyrrhia and Pantala .
