Blade had been deemed to unappreciative type. He spoke flatly and blandly when he spoke, which meant that such words felt that way too. Even when there were different meanings behind what he said, they would be watered down because of his tone, or his expression.

And that's why when Blade says 'unnecessary', he doesn't mean it in the way of rudeness of scoffing, but... More. Something different than him dismissing whatever is thrown his way. It means moreso 'you don't have to do this for me'. They have the same meaning, but different interpretations.

It had gotten to the point where he himself was subjective. His words took a careful mind to understand and pick apart, and a brave soul to understand that he isn't... scary. Just distant. There's a big, big difference.

You notice this again, as you bandage the stab wound on his chest. Yes, of course, he commented on the bitter healing of his flesh and that he couldn't die.. But such pierced his heart, and as much as he hated to admit it, he felt his heart hadn't healed fully yet. How ironic.
