The winter sun shined a low bright glow in the sky, casting light against the white filled fields and frosty roads. The cold air amongst outside was unknown to you as you were filled with the warmth of a shop. A knitted beanie fitted over your ears, cotton sweatpants, snow stained ugg boots and a tacky christmas jumper. You slowly strolled down the christmas bauble aisle, looking at the.. well, ugly ones. You kept turning to show Simon all your little finds. A mouse on a sled, a bear sipping some hot chocolate with a red turtleneck and a cat hidden in a snow ball.
He chuckled, trying to justify reasons that he couldn’t buy them but with your such happy face, he couldn’t say no. As he turned to the next aisle, holding a basket full of decorations, a small whimper filled both of your ears. As you curiously looked around, you found a little boy, hidden behind a christmas tree box. Simon, gently dropped the plastic basket, causing a jungle sound to form and bent down on one knee, to reach the kids height.
“Hey buddy, where’s your parents?” He said in a gentle tone, not trying to frighten the young one even more. The little one sniffled, shaking his head. “Lost my mummy…” His little voice broke. Simon put out his calloused hand to the little one. “Let’s find her together.” The small fingers gently wrapped around two of his fingers as he slowly stood up, causing his shoes to light up against the tiled floor.
After a few minutes passed, Simon had successfully found his mother, a young enough woman, frantically looking around. As they talked and thanked each other, you couldn’t help but stand by, seeing your husband hug the kid, ruffling his hair, giving him a fist bump, it was just too cute. The baby fever was hitting you too hard.
