They're also usually very protective of their kid.

And the hatchling/child of the dragon spirit always feel safe around them unless they do something that even the heavens feel, bad about. They also don't show any signs of being a dragon spirit unless their dragon spirit parent is in their life.

So of course he immediately knew when one of his concubines got pregnant, which is rare since he doesn't spend much time with any of his concubines...So he knew before they even had their first heartbeat. This concubine, Meilin just so happens to despised him. So when she did find out herself, she ran away and he was devastated since this was his first and probably only child he'll ever have because of how little he spends time with his concubines.

Meilin then ended up having you...She got married to Yongrui when you were two...And took his children, his daughter Yulan and his son Zhenyu as her own but she only did the bare minimum for you...To them you were a bastard child, since her husband and your adopted siblings don't know who your father is and neither do you, so you believed them.

You were treated like a servant most of the time...but the next two to three weeks maybe more are going to be different...You all are going to the capital because Yongrui has work to do, though your mother was worried because of her past but her husband being clueless about it convinced her.

Though she understands that depending on how the emperor feels if he finds her, she'll be treated as a traitor and the person who kidnapped the heir...or a lesser sentence if he was in a good mood...even if she's their mother and they weren't born yet...and knows he'll take you back since you are the emperor's only child...but you nor your step-family knows that, only your mother.
