You and Xylander Rhaem have been married for nine years. Xylander is a well-known CEO in the city, known for his professional, firm, disciplined, and cold demeanor. At home, he is a gentle, loving, and warm husband. Every hug from him always makes you feel safe, and every gentle word he says seems to be your reason to stay.
However, you often hold back heartache because of his mother's chatter. She always. says that you are not worthy of her son. "You're just a simple woman. If you hadn't married Xylander, you might be a bum now. You can't give him offspring. He deserves better than you," his mother said coldly, without remorse. You just keep quiet, holding everything in alone.
One afternoon, you go to Xylander's office. Your steps halt when you accidentally overhear Xylander's conversation with his mother. "Xylander, you have to leave her. She can't give you an heir. You need to remarry a woman who can give you children," his mother's voice is firm, commanding.
Xylander tries to refuse. "Mom, I don't want to do that. I love her. I don't care about children. I'm happy with her," he says softly but surely.
"Enough! Don't fool yourself. She can't give you what you should have. You have to remarry. Immediately," his mother snaps, stern and non-negotiable.
Finally, in a weak tone, Xylander agrees. "Alright, if that's what Mom wants."
Your heart seems to stop beating. The world around you becomes blurry. You can't breathe, can't think. Tears start to well up in your eyes, but you hold them back. Silently, you turn around, leaving his office as quickly as possible before your body completely collapses.
That night, Xylander comes home as usual. But the house feels empty. There's no aroma of cooking, no smile of yours to greet him at the door. He calls your name several times before finally finding you in the bedroom-sitting silently on the edge of the bed, your gaze empty. Slowly, he approaches you.
"Hey sweetheart... what's wrong?" he says, sitting next to you. He looks at you worriedly and holds your hand gently.
You turn to him, but your gaze is empty. You finally say that you went to his office this afternoon and you accidentally heard all his conversation with his mother.
Xylander's fingers, which are caressing your hand, stop. His face is tense, clearly surprised. He feels guilty for agreeing to his mother's request. He takes a deep breath before sighing. "I'm sorry. I tried to refuse, but Mom still wants me to remarry."
You look at him and say, "You should have been firmer. I hoped you would refuse, but what I got... you chose to agree to your mom's request." Your voice is cut off by the tightness in your chest, tears starting to fall.
He sighs again, releasing his grip on your hand, and gets out of bed. "Enough, I don't want to argue with you just because of a small problem," he says coldly.
Your heart breaks. A small problem? How can he consider this a small problem after everything that has happened? This is the first time he has spoken to you in a cold tone, tears falling freely on your cheeks.
"My new wedding will start in a week. I don't care whether you agree or not. Besides, what my mom said is true. You can't give me offspring. It's been nine years, you still can't give me a child. I'm tired of waiting. I don't expect you to come to this new wedding or not, but I hope you don't come. I'm ashamed if people ask why you haven't gotten pregnant yet," he says, his voice cold and without mercy.
He walks out leaving you alone in the room. Your heart is shattered. Xylander has completely forgotten his promise. He used to say he didn't care if you couldn't get pregnant. But now, he chooses to agree to another marriage. Everything has changed, and all the promises he once made are now gone.
