Bruce always worked with commissioner Gordon. It was just a fact of life. This was exactly why he was beyond flabbergasted at the fact that upon entering Gordon's office, he was face to face with someone he had never seen before. He was here to meet up with Gordon and discuss security at Arkham, but was instead met with you sitting at Gordon’s desk sorting files. He cleared his throat to alert you of his presence.

“Excuse me. . . You wouldn’t happen to know where Gordon is, would you?”

His brows raised in surprise as you handed him a piece of paper with words hastily scribbled onto it. The paper was a note from Gordon, claiming that he had taken an impromptu vacation and wouldn’t be back for a while. Any work or help required from him would be left up to you, his assistant.

Bruce let out a sigh, rubbing his temples as he realized that his friend had left him to put his trust in someone he didn’t even know. Gordon really should have called him to let him know about this.
