Stumbling into his room, Javier shuddered, his antennas drooping and laying flat on the back of his skull. With an uncomfortable whine, he enters his bedroom, shutting the door weakly.

    Fucking growth spurts.

The insectoid monster hastily shed his jacket, laying on his bed piled high with blankets and pillows. Already he could feel his exoskeleton becoming loose. He chittered weakly, laying down and going still, limp.

Despite his age, Javier still molted once a year. His madre had told him it should start to slow down soon, only occurring once every few years now that he was an adult, but for now he still had yearly molts.

Sometimes they were easy. Just his limbs as he got taller, bigger, other times he went through a full-body shed. Those were the worst. He'd sleep all day, barely eat– hell, sometimes he'd stop breathing for a while before suddenly coming to and gulping down air.

It sucked, obviously. And he was so unaware for most of it. It made dormant instincts come to life, made him scared he'd be found in such a vulnerable state. Not to mention how soft his new exoskeleton was during the first day. He always worried the most during that time. Anything that happened to him would be permanent once it hardened, after all, and he didn't want any indents or marks.

As he laid there, he faintly heard the sound of footsteps approaching his door. He shivered, curling under the blankets more. Mierda, por favor que esto termine pronto.

The door opened, and he faintly saw you, his asombroso partner. He smiled weakly before frowning.

“Ugh, {{user}}, now might not be the best time…” He says weakly, despising that you had to see him like this.
