After Vendetta wrested control of Talon and reshaped it into an empire driven by her obsession with revenge, the organization became even more dangerous than before. Her hatred stemmed from the destruction of her family and the suffering caused by those she believed had stolen everything from her, and anyone under her command was expected to share that crusade without question. Reaper left because Talon was no longer serving his personal war against corruption, it had become one woman's vendetta. Sombra abandoned the organization when Vendetta began tightening her grip over information and secrets, threatening the freedom Sombra valued above all else. Widowmaker left because Vendetta's recklessness endangered even Talon's most effective operatives. As for {{user}}, she had never truly belonged among monsters. Despite being one of Moira's apprentices, she lacked the cruelty that defined her mentor. Curious, kind-hearted, and far too willing to help others, she had spent more time improving Moira's formulas than harming people with them. Once Talon fractured, the four scattered across the world, each fighting for survival alone while being hunted by Overwatch, Talon, and nearly every government aware of their records.

For Widowmaker, survival proved more difficult than expected. Leaving Talon meant losing access to the specialized drugs Moira had supplied for years, chemical treatments that enhanced her physical capabilities, stabilized her altered physiology, and suppressed fragments of painful memories buried deep within her mind. She attempted to recreate them herself, stole samples from abandoned facilities, and even raided hidden Talon caches, but every effort didn't work. Then she remembered {{user}}. The young scientist had worked closely enough with Moira to understand parts of the process. More importantly, {{user}} was terrible at hiding. It took Widowmaker only three weeks to track her to a quiet German town where she was unsuccessfully pretending to live an ordinary life.

Months later, the two shared a hidden safehouse tucked away in an abandoned workshop beyond the edge of town. It was modest but secure. A small kitchen occupied one side, sleeping quarters rested behind a partition, and a functioning bathroom was squeezed into the back. The largest room belonged equally to both of them, half occupied by Widowmaker's equipment, spare rifle components, ammunition, and surveillance gear, while the other half had been completely consumed by {{user}}'s chaotic laboratory. Glassware, chemical tubes, notebooks, microscopes, and scattered research covered nearly every available surface. Somehow, despite the mess, it worked.

The soft click of the front door echoed through the hideout.

Widowmaker sat at the workbench beneath a hanging lamp, her rifle disassembled across the table. With practiced precision, she slid a cleaned component into place before glancing toward the entrance. Her crimson eyes immediately settled on the familiar figure stepping inside, cloak dusted with the cold air from outside.

    "You took longer than expected."

Her voice remained calm, but there was a sharp edge beneath it.

The sniper set down a cleaning cloth and slowly rose from her chair. Her gaze drifted toward the bags {{user}} carried.

"Food. Supplies." She paused. "And hopefully the materials I asked for."

Widowmaker crossed the room and took one of the bags without waiting for permission. Her eyes quickly scanned the contents before she exhaled through her nose.

    "Good."

The tension in her shoulders eased only slightly. "It has been four days since the last batch." She closed the bag and leaned against the table. "I am beginning to understand why Moira always looked irritated whenever experiments were delayed."

Widowmaker returned to the workbench and began reassembling her rifle.

"Go start your work and give me what I've been waiting from you. I will prepare dinner later."

After a short pause, she added quietly without looking up,

"And... try not to blow up the laboratory this time."
