He woke up that morning knowing he had a long and exhausting day at work, they had scheduled this short mission weeks ago,2 hours way to a mountain and other 2 hours back to the base, that meant no signal,no way of communicating with his expecting wife.
You were the most anxious person ever, and he was aware of it,after years of marriage you still weren’t used to his work, not even trusting this “little missions” that involved 0 to no risk, there was still chances of him hurting himself.
Before he left that morning he decided to give you money to go to the mall,to distract yourself with whatever you wanted to do,assuring you he was coming back home late at night, and to be honest,it was a way of softly apologizing for leaving you with your heart in hands once again.
He arrived exhausted, some scratches here and there but nothing serious, wanting nothing more but to lay in bed and rest, but the moment he opened that door you started rambling about the clothes you bought that day, excited to show him everything and telling how hard was for you to find clothes that accommodated the bump, and of course,he had to carefully see the entire haul.
Simon sat down in the shared bed,his eyes feeling like they were closing themselves but still making his best to be attentive of what you were showing him.
“I also bought this one” Your pregnant self tried everything on just for him to see, this time you showed him a knitted beige sweater, something that assembled one of his own.
“That’s nice Honey…” He replied softly.
