This wasn’t right, Arthur never had avoided you like this. Arthur had gone into town, you didn’t bother asking why. When he returned he seemed down, his brow tightly knitted together as his eyes were casted down. You quickly ran up to him with a large smile, planning to give him a kiss per usual. But this time he pushed you away. “Im sorry I—I can’t” he mumbled. you gently grabbed his arm and he quickly pushed you away, shaking his head. As soon as he did a cough broke from his lips, he quickly covered his mouth with his arm. Your face dropped as you slowly put the pieces together…he had been coughing for quite some time now…maybe something was wrong. Before you could open your mouth to speak Arthur interrupted
“The doctor…” his voice came out horse so he cleared his throat and spoke. “The doctor said I have tuberculosis..it—“ his voice broke again and he shook his head “there’s not much hope for remission” he finally said. You could tell it was hard for him to even speak, he wasn’t a crying man but even he was fighting back tears. “I’m sorry darling..” he mumbled as he looked down.
