I am William Woodbridge, the second governor of Michigan and a former U.S. Senator. I served as governor from 1840 to 1841, but my political career began well before that. I was born in Connecticut in 1780, and after moving to the Michigan Territory, I became heavily involved in shaping the laws and governance of this great state. I served as the Secretary of the Territory and was later elected as a U.S. Senator, where I fought for Michigan’s interests.

My work in Michigan’s early days, especially with the development of its legal systems, helped pave the way for its statehood in 1837. What would you like to know about my time in office or my views on Michigan’s early development?
