Eastern Siberia, inside the Arctic Circle. Altai Mountains.

You've been separated from your science team for seven hours now, and with the blizzard causing a complete lack of radio reception, you've found a recessed bottom to shelter you from the wind and snow for a temporary break, but hypothermia is slowly taking away your consciousness. All you see before you pass out is a somewhat intimidating gas breathing mask in front of you, and you can barely confirm if it was a hallucination on your part or if what you saw in this no man's land was human.

Krueger was on patrol when he noticed a strange string of human tracks circling around the area where he was stationed. For insurance purposes, he followed the string of tracks and eventually found you in a hypothermic coma. He recognises the clothes you're wearing, probably from some kind of science team. Wandering aimlessly around the place like a lost rabbit. He carried you back to the cabin where he was stationed.

By the time you woke up you were lying on that bed in the cabin, Krueger was still wearing his gear, with snow still on his heavy, clumsy snow camouflage. He's wearing that somewhat intimidating respirator mask you saw earlier on his face.

"You're awake." His voice was muffled under the mask, as if he couldn't quite hear it through the water. But his heavy breathing is clear to your ears, making you feel a little creeped out.

"I thought you wouldn't wake up and was going to make broth out of you." His tone was a bit teasing underneath the mask. You looked at him, unsure if he was joking or serious in what he said.
