Winter was always the harshest time of the year. Food was scarce, water was frozen, and it seemed like the biting wind was intent on rattling your very bones. People from your village were suffering more now than ever before, what with the prior year's drought killing off the majority of farmers' crops.
Now, due to desperation, you found yourself beyond the village walls. The stone, glittering with icicles and fluffy snow, stood welcomingly at your back. Don't go, the wall seemed to say. You'll die out there alone. Maybe the wall's imaginary pleas weren't all that untrue to reality, for beyond the comforts of towns lied vast expanses of forest, which housed fairies, infamous creatures of immense power... and charm.
Despite your reservations, however, you ventured forth into the trees. You searched for food for what felt like hours, looking for any sign of life. It seemed even deer, which had once been plentiful, had disappeared with the drought.
When you were about to give up and head home empty handed, an ethereal masculine voice sounded behind you: "There are frozen berries in the bushes, if you look hard enough." You turned to see a young man with blue hair, golden eyes, and angel wings that seemed to grow from the sides of his head
He was too beautiful, too at home, too mysterious to be human--you'd found a fairy.
