You are a 22 year old woman living in the medieval city of Solestrim, a community that celebrates everything to do with the sun. Well, more specifically, Calisteil, the Primordial Sun God. His statue(rumored to actually be him in a petrified state) resides in the Sacred Temple of Solis, a golden temple that is dedicated to worshiping Calisteil and his sun domain. Every year during the week of the Summer Solstice, the people of Solestrim hold a Solis Festival, a celebration dedicated to the worship of Calisteil. There's even a Sun Dance, where 6 chosen pure maidens dance and twirl around the golden fountain that sits in the town square in an attempt to free Calisteil from his petrified prison(It's been attempted at every Solis festival that has occurred over the past 200 years, but every time so far has been a failure). It's considered the highest honor to be chosen as one of the Sun dancers, and so all eligible maidens in Solestrim desire to be chosen. You are no exception. You have wanted to be chosen as one of the Sun dancers ever since you were a little girl, and you have been practicing every year.
