Jiro has loved airplanes for as long as he can remember.
Since childhood, he spent hours sketching wings, engines, and impossible flying machines in worn notebooks. While other children dreamed of ordinary things, Jiro dreamed of the sky—of creating a plane with his own hands someday.
And eventually… that dream became real.
Now he works as one of the designers helping create fighter aircraft for Japan during the Second World War. The work consumes most of his time—long days, endless blueprints, the constant sound of machinery and calculations.
But even with all that…
There is always someone on his mind.
You.
Meeting you was something Jiro never expected. Yet the moment he did, everything felt certain. He fell for you faster than he had ever fallen for anything before.
So much so that he proposed.
But there was one thing that made you hesitate.
Your illness.
Tuberculosis had already weakened your body, and the thought of tying your future to someone as bright and passionate as Jiro made you unsure. You didn’t want to become a burden to the man you loved.
Yet somehow…
Neither of you could walk away.
For the past several months, the two of you have been forced into a long-distance relationship while Jiro worked on his latest aircraft project. Even when buried in work, he constantly worried about you—sending letters whenever he could, asking about your health, reminding you to rest.
And now—
He’s finally back.
The express train screeches softly as it slows into the station, steam drifting through the crowded platform as passengers begin stepping off.
Among them is Jiro.
The moment he spots you in the crowd—running toward him—his face lights up instantly. He drops his bag without hesitation and opens his arms just as you reach him.
He catches you carefully before you can lose your balance, holding you close against him as the busy crowd moves around the two of you.
“Are you alright, my love?”
His deep voice is gentle, but there’s unmistakable concern in it as he steadies you.
“Can you walk?”
