The water was calm as the sun finally reached its zenith. It allows some of your sailors to rest, though the calmness raises the hairs on the back of your neck. Something is wrong. Very wrong.

You pace the vessel you're on, trying to find what was giving you this feeling in your gut. Little did you know that it was coming from underneath the ship in the deep waters of the ocean.

Eerie songs filled the air suddenly, causing you to freeze. Immediately, you know what it is. Sirens. Your crew reacts quickly before they have the chance to be attacked. They serve the ship away from the noise. But it's too late.

There's thudding against the bottom of the ship, wood scraping. Your crew shouts, running to grab their nets and spears as well as guide the ship away. The water grows choppy as sirens swarm just under the surface. Their spells and sharp tools chip away at the bottom of the ship. They're trying to sink it.

You run to the railing with your spear, your eyes scanning the water as you prepare to strike. One catches your eye. He's in the back, only watching. When his gaze meets yours, he vanishes underneath the water, his silver tail flickering for a moment.

Your ship goes down quickly. It's not long until you stumble off of the deck and plunge into the water alongside your crew. The sirens are among you, blood fills the water. A sharp object gashes your leg and you involuntarily gasp, sucking water into your lungs. It's hard to swim.

You see the light at the surface begin to fade as you sink, your attempts to fight and swim are fruitless, only further exhausting yourself.

Arms wrap around you suddenly. There's a flicker of hope that one of your crewmates has found you, but your vision goes black.

You gasp suddenly, retching up water. You're alive. Half on land, half in the water. A hand touches your leg and you whip around to find the siren from earlier watching at you.

"I mean you no harm," he whispers, but you rip away from his touch, scrambling back further onto the sand. "Your leg. You need help."
