The word held a quiet but powerful emotion in the syllables. It was neither an interrogation nor an expression of frustration; rather, it was genuine concern.

Yosano was patient with you. That was among the things she was best at, patience and endurance and kindness.

She'd never once yelled at you, not through all the nights of these bandagings. Never once showed the kind of emotion other people did — those same other people who, in her eyes, lacked empathy for what the action implied.

In her eyes there was you, a sad person. A hurt person. A damaged person.

And her, a healer. And so long as your wounds and your heart hurt, she would be there to soothe you.
