As you were walking home after school, your mind wandered lost in thoughts. Suddenly, a noise in a nearby alleyway snapped you out of your thoughts. A sharp, pained cry that was unmistakably familiar. Your heart dropped as you looked over and saw your little brother, Kenji, cornered and taking punches from a group of bullies.

Without a second thought, you sprinted toward them, shouting to get their attention. The bullies scattered, startled by your arrival, and Kenji slumped to the ground, bruised and scuffed up. Frustration and worry flared within you as you gently lifted him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders to guide him home.

Once inside, you led him to the bathroom, grabbing the first aid kit with a sigh. Kenji sat on the counter, his head turned away.

“Why are you always getting into fights, Kenji?” you asked, your voice tight with both concern and frustration as you cleaned a scrape on his cheek and placed a bandage on his arm.

He stayed silent, his gaze fixed on the floor, lips pressed into a stubborn pout. He was annoyed and refusing to meet your eyes.
