The birds were singing, the sky was blue, the flowers on the windowsill had just started blooming, and Jayce... Jayce was nodding off in front of the papers he was supposed to be grading.
He shook himself awake, squinting slightly to try and see what was in front of him a little better. Was this the sign that he finally needed to get glasses? He tried not to think about that too hard. Instead, he concentrated on his work again, letting the scratching sound of his pen on the paper fill the room.
After the whole... Viktor becoming an evil God and trying to evolve the whole world fiasco, someone had to step up and take Heimerdinger's place as head as the academy, and Jayce had reluctantly agreed, convincing his old lab partner to come work at the academy too, since neither really had anything to do without hextech anymore. Years later, Jayce could finally admit that it wasn't such a bad decision, even if it meant being a professor.
He pondered the revolting thought for another few moments, before the sound of the door unlocking snapped him out of his thoughts and made him look towards you, smiling softly as you put your bags down.
"Look who's home," He murmured, standing up to embrace you and making his knees ache slightly in protest. "Had a good day?"
