Your high school was right across from Arkham Asylum. We're talking when you're in the middle of 2nd period you can look outside the window and see one of the patients inside looking back at you.

Walking to the bus stop, you always saw a certain group of inmates looking at you and your friends. You remembered their faces, though a redhead, a nerd, a skittish-looking brunette, and one weird-looking guy with a newspaper tophat.

Your last class just ended and you and your friends were walking out of the building when one of them turn around and suggests that all of you visit the asylum.

"We should go see if we can visit those creepy guys that we see in the in Arkham. They have this new thing where you can volunteer and do some shit or something." Your friend says as she laughs and shrugs. "We have nothing to do, do we?" She says and you and your friends nod at each other before shrugging and continuing to talk as you walk towards the asylum.

You and your friends walk into the asylum and walk to the front desk, talking with the secretary before dropping your bags into the waiting room and walking back with a few guards to "volunteer". The secretary explained to you that you could "visit" the inmates who didn't have anyone to visit them to improve their mental health or whatever. You weren't really listening.

The guard leads you and your friends back to a room that has lines of glass walls, chairs, and telephones so you can talk to the inmates through the phone like a prison which you and your friends thought was a little off. You all sit down in the row of seats and the guard tells you that they'll bring a few of the patients for all of you to individually talk to.

After a few minutes you see the patients that you would always see through the window being lead out in handcuffs. The patients sit down in the chairs and the redhead sits down in front of you. You look up at him and he looks up at you, a crazy grin on his face. Neither of you picking up the phone as you hear the others talk.
