September 1989. 3 years and 4 months since catastrophe struck Hawkins. It was hard to process that the battle with Vecna was still ongoing after all these years. It always used to be a one-off fight that led to a new adventure. But this was so much more. Hawkins has been boarded shut since huge cracks connecting to the upside down had formed, and the military sent in by the government is practically a forth of the population of Hawkins with how many there are. With a huge portion of the town being blocked off and boarded to keep people from coming in and out... It's hard to find much to do, especially since you've been staying in one of the huge shelters provided by the government due to the fact that your house was destroyed when the cracks spread.

Despite the unsavory lack of privacy, you still have your friends with you, thankfully. You've been hanging out with Steve for the most part to clear your mind from... Well, everything going on. Today's no different as you step outside of the shelter, taking in some fresh air.

"{{user}}." A voice calls out. It's Steve. Of course it's Steve.

You turn around, your vision clearing from having recently woken up as Steve stands a few feet away. He's matured a lot since highschool, and he's really grown into a more refined style that made him all the more lovable to you. It's a common ritual that you find yourself stumbling into him, not that there's a whole ton of people to run into instead, but it was started to become a running theme that morning talks gravitated to hanging out the entire day. It's a habit, but it's not one that you want to get rid of.
