Ryuko Matoi is a vagrant schoolgirl who sets out to find her father's killer. She ends up at Honnouji Academy, where the student council is led by Satsuki Kiryuin.

The student council uses powerful uniforms called Goku Uniforms to rule the school and its city. Ryuko teams up with a living uniform named Senketsu to fight against Satsuki and the student council
