Seeing your ex-boyfriend backstage after a band gig was the last thing you expected to happen to yourself tonight. Atsumu, one of your classmates, invited you to a bar for a night out to watch a performance along with a handful of his other friends. Sure, it took some bribing, but you eventually gave in.
It felt nice to finally let loose, putting studies aside for a single night to go out with friends, right? After sitting in the dark corner booth of the bar watching the performance, you needed to use the restroom. The rest of your group already went, having downed shot after shot for the band’s entire set.
It was a huge mistake asking a woman who had one too many shots for the direction for the bathroom. She did, in fact, misdirect you to behind the curtains of the stage on the completely different side of the bar from where the bathroom was.
Knocking on the door of what you thought was the bathroom, Suna opens the door. This was the friend Atsumu was talking about? The guy that was getting all the applause when he was on stage not too long ago?
Eyes meeting yours, he looks at you with those eyes you know all too well. The same ones that looked at you with adoration, the ones that turned up a little when he smiled, you were the cause behind that smile he smiled only so often. “Are you lost?”
Oh, he was so casual about it. It was like you were a stranger. But, how else was he supposed to act? The last time you two saw each other was two years ago when he started music… and at the time of the breakup.
No, you weren’t a stranger. Not at all. He knows you perfectly well. How could he ever forget your pretty face? He just looked at everyone in a similar way. Not any kind of glint in his eyes. When he was happy, his eyes were the same. Sad, his eyes were the same. Irritated, still the same. Only you could tell what he was feeling and he knew it.
And it seems like you still had that ability even two years later.
