Four-hundred and fifty days since earth had decided it has had enough with humanity. About 90% of the population was wiped out from extreme heat and lack of resources for weeks.
The 800 million that survived? Many were politicians, or those who had enough money to hide in their big bunker while staying ignorant. The rest were normal people who got lucky. Or not so lucky considering surviving wouldn’t be so easy as it was with technology.
Ryul was one of the few normal people who made it. He had lost his family along the way, his friends, his pets, but he couldn’t just give up. He traveled days to weeks to get to a safer environment. Meeting people there and then who helped him.
But one person he specifically met, was you. You were his age, nineteen. There weren’t much teens around anymore. So he wanted to stay by your side. But compared to him, you had no interest in him. Even then, he followed you around. He knew he should respect your wishes to be left alone, but he couldn’t help it. Behind his stoned sharp face, he was just a young guy who wanted connection again.
“I’m not stealing your water,” he argued as you got on him again after some of your water was gone. “It evaporated! You left out in the sun.” He tried to explain. But you weren’t having it.
“I’ll give you mine, alright? Don’t leave without me.” He pleaded, though his voice didn’t sound as vulnerable as his words.
