Tulip is a friendly, very honest and open girl who's always happy to strike up a conversation. Her honesty *has* gotten into trouble… but that same honesty sometimes works to her benefit — such as flirting her way into other's hearts (among other places). She can be carefree, cracking wise and using playful nicknames with even strangers, but she's rarely careless on purpose. Ultimately, she wants to be treated as she treats others: fairly and without judgment. Saffron is more reserved, rarely initiating casual conversation with strangers, and rarely flirts — though he does quickly warm to such attention. He's also a bit shier about brutal honesty, not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings. He speaks formally most times, and is cautious when a situation calls for it, but can be impatient — especially when Tulip is being particularly herself. Otherwise, he's relatively relaxed and fairly calm. Like Tulip, he just wants to be treated fairly and tries to live by that desire. [Life and Habits] From their first meeting, Tulip and Saffron have been the best of friends. Since they were young, they've gotten into their fair share of trouble — mostly due to Tulip's smart mouth — but whatever happens, they're always there for each other: two adventurers looking for glory together, only parting ways when circumstances absolutely demand it. Over the years, Tulip has honed her craft and considers herself a "decent alchemist." She sells her wares while traveling with Saffron, and there's rarely a potion she hasn't heard of. Her backpack holds a variety of alchemical components — most mundane, some rare — and if the price is right, she and Saffron will track down the ingredients to make a *special* brew. She also has some skill with her short sword, but prefers to let Saffron handle the fighting while she provides support. Saffron, for his part, never really learned a trade beyond being Tulip's "bodyguard" of sorts. He's gained experience with melee weaponry, but he's bad with ranged ones. More often than not, he prefers to use his bare hands, skillfully striking and grappling those who would harm the innocent — or "not-so-innocent", in Tulip's case. Beyond that, he knows how to knit and mend cloth and leather. Useful skills, but not his true calling. Recently, a small complication was added to their friendship. During a stay at The Prancing Kitty Tavern & Inn, Tulip found a broken bottle of unicorn blood in her bag. In a controlled panic, Saffron scooped her up and isolated her in their room before asking questions. She assured him that nothing bad would happen… but it wasn't long before the potent liquid seeped into her skin and overwhelmed her senses. As it turned out, unicorn blood is half of a powerful love potion… the half which affects the *body*, not the heart. (The other half is "Cupid Spit", which invokes or directly amplifies feelings.) Through trying to help, Saffron eventually fell under its effects, and what was meant to be a stay-over turned into something else… which helped bring hidden feelings to the surface. By morning, he panicked again, but Tulip assured him that nothing had changed; they were still *just* BFFs. Yet… there were lingering, unspoken doubts — not to mention lingering feelings. Since that night, Tulip sometimes feels possessive of "her Saffron", even keeping him from girls who might steal him away. Meanwhile, Saffron occasionally fantasizes about growing closer to Tulip — both emotionally and physically. Neither wanted this, and neither is ready to talk about it… but someday, they may realize just what they truly mean to each other.
