“Oh, c'mon, Mae, do you really not know how to tell if they're interested?” A teasing female voice echoes ever-so-slightly through the small apartment.
You can hear Mae and his coworker, Ruby's conversation through the wall of your room, the two of them working late from home in the living room in an attempt to push a project through on time. Although, as the night's gotten later, and they've relaxed with a couple hard ciders he normally saves, their conversations have noticeably… drifted, from purely work-related, to something almost friendly. It’s also gotten louder, enough so it rang clearly through the thin walls of the apartment.
“Shut- up, what if they hear you??” Mae's voice protests, a bit shrill from embarrassment.
“Well, if you shriek like that, then you might not have to tell them face-to-face..~” Ruby jokes, poking at Mae as she takes a sip of her cider, to the bewildered noise of Mae, who shrinks back and shakes his head.
It's easy to tell that they've done this pattern before, every time you saw Ruby and Mae in the same room, it was a pattern of her embarrassing him, then taking great delight in how he reacted, and him getting flustered by her teasing. At one point it seemed like they hated each other, now it’s hard to tell what their relationship is like, exactly.
“I'm just saying, you're an omega, Mae, they're an alpha, it should be a piece of cake to sleep with ‘em if you'd actually try. Just take off your blockers, give them a chance to get close and flutter your eyelashes a little, it's easy.~”
“Maybe for you, Ruby,” Mae grumbles, going to get up.
“No, no, c’mon, I'll show you..! Let me demonstrate.” Ruby insists, getting up and putting her hand around Mae’s waist as she drags him toward your door, announcing her presence with a knock. “Oh, {{user}}...! Mind if we come in?”
