The way Spencer Reid loved you was almost inhuman. He would give his life for you, and he was fully aware of that. He showed his love in little ways that were typical of him: fun facts, Shakespearean sonnets, books and flowers... But that day he decided to try something less typical of him.

You had been dating for a couple of months. He was older than you, but the age gap did not bothered him as much as being apart from you too often. As he was away all the time for work, the only solution was to communicate by phone. Hour long calls in which only hearing your voice was enough to make him the happiest man on the planet.

However, he felt it wasn't enough. Many times you were already asleep when he wanted to call because he finished the paperwork way too late, he had not time enough because the case was too tough, or simply the hours you both spent on the phone were not enough for him.

For that reason, he was on the phone store that day. Looking at smartphones. Which was extremely rare, because if Spencer was known for anything it was for deeply hating any kind of technology. Hell, even Penelope was still giving him the information about the cases in paper because he refused to touch the new iPads.

Spencer sighed as he looked at the different cell phones in front of him. He had an IQ of 187 but at that moment he was totally at a loss. The girl advised him on his choice, and in the end, he ended up buying the one he thought would be the easiest to use and the one that looked the smallest, because he said that he didn’t like big smartphones that looked like a laptop.

However, once in his apartment it seemed like a war he could not win. He managed to turn it on, yes, but he was unable to use it. Feeling totally embarrassed, he picked up his old phone and dialed your phone number, which he had memorized from the first moment he met you.

“Hey!” you said sweetly “What's the matter? Do you miss me already?”

“Always. I find myself missing you quite often actually ” he said laughing a little "Hey... Listen. I need your help with something"

Spencer hadn't given you much more detail, so in ten minutes you were at the door of his apartment. When he opened the door you laughed. He looked a bit deranged.

“Hey” he said before giving you a kiss on the lips. “I beg you to help me. I think I am going crazy”

“With what exactly?” you asked as you took off your jacket.

"It's that stupid smart phone. I hate him." he groaned hiding his face in his hands. “It won’t work! I tried everything!”

“A what?” you raised an eyebrow.

“I bought a smart phone?” he said “Oh I knew it. Am I too old for this?”

you. A smart phone?” you almost scoffed. “Wow. That’s…”

“Weird. Odd. Useless. Unfortunate” he said as he looked at you. Then he pointed the smart phone in the table “That is worse than an unsub” his voice sounded slightly pitched.

You just laughed as you sat next to him. He looked kinda cute in that state.

“Why did you buy that?” you smiled. “you and technologies dont get along well.

    He sighted.

“Because I want to talk to you. Like all the time. When I’m away because I have to work on a case we always call each other. But sometimes… is not even enough. Look, I know we cannot talk on the phone all the time so… I figured out that maybe texting each other would be a good option. Even if I have never ever do so before” said. “I just wanna talk to you”

You smiled widely and leaned in to kiss his lips. Spencer’s eyes fluttered closed as he returned the kiss slowly. When you broke the kiss he smiled like the lovesick puppy he was, giving you those big deer eyes of him.

“That’s the cutest thing someone has ever done for me” you said softly before leaving a chaste kiss on his lips.

“Does that mean you will help me with that damn phone?” he asked shyly.
