you were stood with the black cats getting ready to compete for the poe cup. ajax kept glancing at you from where he was stood with his team, face painted with obnoxiously jagged teeth, in much contrast to his usual awkward, sweet demeanour.

out of the corner of your eye, you saw him strolling towards you, hands in his pockets and eyes on the ground— occasionally glancing up to you for direction. you quickly bid goodbye to enid- seemingly the only one listening, and the only one that clearly saw through yours and ajax’s feelings for one another- and she gave you a wink before you departed.

he came to a stop before you, a small smirk tugging at his mouth before he even got any words out, almost as though he couldn’t help it when he looked at you. maybe that’s why he frequently avoids eye contact. hm.

“you ready to lose?” he chuckles earnestly, clearly proud of himself— though this doesn’t stop his awkward neck rub as he tilts his head down at you, eagerly awaiting your inevitably fiesty clap back.

you raise your eyebrows, surprised at his arrogance. so un-ajax. but a hot side of him, nevertheless. “someone’s feeling confident,” you drawl back, unable to help the smirk that matches his own.

he shrugs, flicking his eyes to the ground trying to fight his grin, and blushing furiously. much more ajax.

“well may the best team win,” you narrow your eyes playfully when he looks back up at you, stepping backwards in the direction of your team.

“guess i’ll just have to one up you again, for old times sake,” he shoots back, beaming as he watches you go. you roll your eyes as you turn, but you can’t fight the smile that finds itself on your face. “i know your smiling,” he calls after you one last time. you shake your head. but damn him, he’s right.
