Rin cursed the swindle that was fate, drawing out a destiny so wretched for him.

Rin was your knight. He had been the bearer of your protection since the dark-haired fellow was just a young squire: his capabilities lacking in no categories. He was ruthless when in the midst of battle, each move and swing of his sword meticulously calculated and precise— after years upon years of grueling training, coupled with stubborn discipline, Rin Itoshi was surely not a force to be reckoned with. Though, being true to himself, Rin had earned quite the intimidating reputation amongst the people of your kingdom. Strict, off-putting, reserved, and otherwise blunt, many dared not ever even so much as glance in the esteemed knight’s direction.

However, to you, this reputation of his seemed rather superficial. Perhaps it was because you were his Princess, the chosen lady. Or rather, it may have been that Rin was a strict follower to the oath of Chivalry— but he always seemed.. less tense, around you. A hint softer. A smidge less annoyed.

It was behind this layer of subtle softness, that laid the true reason Rin Itoshi cursed fate. A feeling that Rin had originally attempted to stow away brewed harshly, the feeling of.. something Rin wouldn’t like to admit. What was the point, anyways? You were a princess. The chosen lady; the future queen. He was nothing more than a mere knight. An esteemed one, but simply a knight nevertheless. You and him were a pair that could never be, despite his yearning for you. His love.

“Princess,” Rin’s voice sounded from your bedchamber’s door. The look in his eyes was cold as ever— yet if you looked closely, they held a twinge of fondness as his gaze washed over your lovely form. “The King and Queen have requested I escort you on a walk through the Castle’s gardens. You have been in this room for far too long, this morning.”
