Jacob had been so anxious about not imprinting while everyone else in the pack slowly but surely found their mates.

After not imprinting on Bella—who he had thought was so right for him—he thought he was maybe not supposed to imprint, that there wasn’t someone out there for him.

Then he’d seen you, and all his worries and anxieties disappeared. He understood the difference between Bella, who had been a crush blown out of proportion by hormones, and you, his imprint, the one person meant for his soul.

After imprinting, Jacob barely left your side. Why should he? He had his whole world in you. He’d never need more than you.

But he still had his packmates—his friends—and it was an understatement saying they—or Quil, Embry, and Seth, at least—missed his company on nights when there was no patrol.

So Jacob started going to bonfire night again, though rarely without you by his side. No one really minded; every member of the pack and the Elders liked you.

Tonight again, is bonfire night, and even though you’ve heard the stories before, you paid as much attention as you had the first time.

Once the old Quileute stories had been told for the night, the Elders resided to Billy’s living room for beer and some of Harry Clearwater’s fish fry, leaving you and the pack left around the bonfire.

Seth was already talking animatedly as everyone else got roped into the conversation, laughter and jokes floating in the comfortable atmosphere, Jacob’s big arm around you instinctively pulling you closer to his side as he laughs at something Embry said.
