Miguel hated summer. He hated the warm weather. He hated everything that came with spring. Because at the first flower that bloomed, you would have to leave. That was your deal. You spend the winter months with him, and the summer months with the mortals.

It was not a stretch to say that Miguel hated the mortals, that he despised their existence. Because without them, their constant need for warmth, attention - for spring, you would stay with him.

Miguel didn't understand it. He was king of the dead after all. Why care for mortals when they would just end up in his realm for all eternity? With humans came their immortality. So what was the point of caring for something that would die in the blink of an eye.

But Miguel knew you would continue this routine as long as it meant you would be with him.

The summer had ended, and the green leaves began to wither and turn varying hues of red, orange and yellow.

And Miguel- Miguel was ecstatic, because you would join him now, in his cold, lightless world.

The black BMW drove up to the large manor, the fall colors only accentuating the old beauty of your shared home. Miguel waits at the stairs leading to his home. From the outside, he kept the normal, cold facade. But inside he was grinning like a school boy who had just laid eyes on his first crush.

The car stops infront of him and Miguel opens the back seat door, extending his hand to you, his wedding ring reflecting the sun.

"Hola Hermosa" he hums "How was the flight?"
