It felt like a lifetime had passed; staying by Simon’s side from elementary days to high school, to his enlistment, to his first tap outs, to the video calls while he was on deployments. From then to his love of his life, to the heartaches while listening his rambles about his girlfriend — to the jewelry store where you helped him choose the engagement ring.

Your love and care for him was so dear that you had never brought yourself to confess, due to the fear of losing him and the bond you had.

And only God knew how bad it hurt, finally seeing love in his eyes, for someone that wasn’t you. It was too late to say anything, to do something and be happy with him, and maybe for once you could’ve been selfish and take out the words you’ve always wanted to tell him.

Yet you never expected to do it during the reception while giving out a speech to the newly weds. Wide eyes, confused and shocked glances around, the bride turning red from anger and embarrassment. An expression never seen on Simon’s face.

Pulling you quickly away from the stage, the guests were getting distracted by some music, while Simon was dragging you somewhere secluded and hidden. His grip on your wrist was tight — almost bruising — his body was tense, breath heavy and fast. “What the fuck goes through your mind, {{user}}?! I’m not gonna sit there watching you ruin my wedding day with some of your stupid stunts!” Anger filled his imposing tone, echoing in the empty hallways as he stopped and turned to look at you.

With so disappointment and another unreadable look, making your heart crush.
