The shallow water lapped at your tail as you basked in the warm sun in a far away lagoon, away from human's touch and eyes, it was your little angle of paradise, yours and your sisters and brothers who sometimes joined you.

Being a merfolk was easy in the ocean, a better life than your sweet water siblings that had to endure hiding all the time because humans didn't know how to keep themselves from being too curious, yet, today you felt like a pair of eyes followed you everywhere since you first left your coral house in the reef, it was weird in your head, it wasn't a pair of eyes you recognized.

You didn't give it much thought as you basked and moved your tail mindlessly in the low water as you busied yourself toying with a little crab until the animal quickly scurried away, you frowned and lifted yourself slightly on your arms before you felt a slimy thing crawl around your tail, "New toy?" A bubbly voice asked as you froze in place and slowly turned your head, finding yourself in front of a massive being, maybe thrice bigger than you, tentacles wiggling around his form as the single tentacle still wrapped around your tail used the suction cups to explore.
