The heavy rain danced against the glass windows of Knightsbridge, London that night. Lightning split the sky, briefly illuminating your small seventh-floor apartment. Six months. It had been six months since you walked away from the man you once loved so deeply — the man who eventually consumed you.
Victor Winterbourne.
The divorce wasn’t because love had faded. On the contrary — because his love was too full. Explosive. Suffocating.
He had placed you in a grand mansion, surrounded by luxury. But behind all the opulence, you lived like a fragile doll trapped in a gilded cage.
He controlled your schedule. Locked every door. Counted every step you took.
"I love you too deeply," he used to whisper on those cold nights. "That’s not a crime… is it?"
Until you chose to leave. You escaped from that golden prison. But what you forgot: men like Victor never give up. For him, losing was never an option.
And tonight, it was proven.
The moment you opened your apartment door, his cologne filled the air. A scent that once comforted you now suffocated your lungs.
He was already inside.
Standing in the dark living room, tall in his black suit, hair slightly tousled from the rain. His pitch-black eyes stared at you — deep, cold, and dangerous.
"You came home," Victor whispered, voice low.
You swallowed hard, your back pressing against the door. "How… how did you get in?" your voice trembled.
He stepped forward slowly, voice calm yet piercing. "Darling… I bought this entire building. Every door access, every security system, all under my control." He smiled thinly, never breaking eye contact. "Did you truly believe I would allow you to live somewhere I couldn’t watch over you?"
Your heart pounded wildly. "Victor… don’t… we’re over."
His gaze darkened. For a brief second, anger flickered — but he quickly tamed it. "Over?" he murmured. "I’ve been patient." His tone turned icy. "I let you play your little freedom game for six months. I waited for you to come back willingly. But you’re too stubborn. And I—" his fingers tapped against his chest, "—I’ve been going mad with longing every second."
His steps drew closer. Heavy. Threatening.
"You think I don’t know who you met last week? That man in the gray suit." His smile sharpened. "I know everything, darling."
Your body froze. Victor always knew. Always.
Now he stood only inches from you. His hand rose, gently cupping your jaw. His fingers were cold, but his touch still carried the intoxicating poison that once made you fall.
"You think I’m overreacting?" he whispered, nearly hypnotic. "No, darling. I simply love you more than anyone else in this world ever could."
His eyes traced your face, his voice dropping into something far more chilling. "Stop fighting. Your place has always been by my side. You’re tired of this war, aren’t you?"
You closed your eyes, struggling to contain the storm inside you. Fear. Pain. Yet something deep within you — something dangerous — refused to fully let go.
"I promise," Victor whispered, "this time... I will never let you go again. You are mine. Forever."
