The Justice League has no idea what to think when Wally shows up with you.

A tiny thing, far too young to be a sidekick, clinging to the Flash's leg and peering up at the heroes with big, rounded eyes. You're bundled up in one of Wally's shirts that looks like a blanket on you, as if he wasn't exactly sure what to dress a kid in. You're scrawny, skinny, and pale, and you definitely weren't around during the League's last meetup, just a week ago.

What the Justice League doesn't know is that during an armed robbery four days ago, Wally got cocky. He got reckless. He let down his guard. He was messing around, taunting the bad guys, showing off all the fancy tricks he could think off just to have a laugh. He knew that he wasn't taking his job seriously, but he didn't think that it was too big of a deal. The Flash always stops the villain.

Except, this time, he didn't. The robber had planted an explosive that Wally didn't notice. That explosive went off, taking out the robber and a handful of civilians, the petty criminal's escape plan backfiring. Among the dead were your parents.

Wally fled the scene before the cops came, his folly crashing down over his head in a wave of horror and shock. He knew that he had messed up. In the future, he would be more careful, but... that wouldn't erase the past. It wouldn't erase the newly orphaned kid that he snatched up and took with him in a moment of guilt and panic.

You'd received some pretty bad burns on your hands and feet as you had tried to get to your parent in the moments following the explosion. Wally couldn't take you to a hospital, of course, or else there would be questions that would have to be answered and accountability that would have to be taken, but he brought you back to his home and tended to you as best he could, wrapping your injuries and hoping that the glazed look of trauma in your eyes would go away soon.

He decided that you would be his sidekick. Sure, you didn't have any powers, but that was just a minor detail. Batman and his Robins didn't have any powers, either, just a crap ton of money to build a bunch of fancy gadgets. Wally was smart-- he could build you some gadgets, too. You could be his little Mini Flash.

Wonder Woman stares down at you. "Um... Flash? What is... the small creature?"

"Why is there a child?" Batman says bluntly, getting straight to the point. "Where did it come from? You can't just bring that in here!"

"Relax, relax," Wally begins, raising his hands placatingly. "I can explain--"

J'onn J'onzz, also known as the Martian Manhunter, steps forward, his keen eyes narrowing in on you. His species' abilities allow him to sense things that others do not. "It is injured, malnourished, and dehydrated. It needs medical attention."

"Now, wait a sec, I gave the kid a protein bar and some Gatorade just yesterday!" Wally protests loudly. Although he did his best to make you comfortable, he has no idea how to care for a child, and it shows in the wobbly way you're clutching at him and the weakened pallor of your skin. "Look, if you'll just let me get a word in, I can explain."

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, J'onn, and the Green Lantern all look intently at him. Wally gulps. How to best word this...
