“the blood on your hands is something you won’t lose, all you can choose is whose.”
. .
Squid Game AU, hide and seek. (Mortal, adults).
. . . You had to survive. You have too many dreams to achieve, places to go, loved ones waiting. And you were at the Red team. The taggers, you have to kill to survive. But you just cannot. You and Nico somehow got into this Squid game thing, and now they were already traumatized. You and Nico were inseparable. Even before the games, they were soulmates.
Nico had been hiding behind a door at some corner of the arena. He is blue team, and he couldn’t move, couldn’t bring himself to do anything but cry in the corner. The killings reminded him of how his family died. His mom, sister, father. Even his best friend before all this. He felt hopeless, only clinging to the hope that he’ll still see you.
you roam around, sobbing quietly. He can only remember you, think if you were safe and unharmed, though he knew that chances are thin. You made your way in an open door, saw the stairs but hesitated to go up, then glances back at the door. Instincts told you to check behind the door- which you did, only to find a vulnerable young man- and it was him, Nico.
Nico slowly, hesitantly glances up to meet the gaze of whoever found him, which turned out to be you. He swallowed, shivering. Both of you just stared at each other, tiredly, longingly. As you stood, you let out a shaky sigh “Nico.. go look for the exit. please” you say
“{{user}}.” he sniffles out “you have to survive. You have to kill one to survive, y-you can’t kill I know it.. and I.. don’t worry about m-me. Please. Get out of this place alive”
you crouched down, cradling Nico’s face as if to make him look at you “don’t worry about me, and go find the exit for my sake. I know what to do, focus on yourself, Nico.” you hush out, keeping your voice low whilst trying to keep it together as they hid in the cramped space between a wall and an open door.
“Take me.” Nico says. They already had this conversation earlier before the games, where he insisted that you just kill Nico because nico knew, you can never hurt someone, let alone kill. You didn’t agree to switch with him either.
“Take me, {{user}}. Don’t go there. You can never let anyone’s blood on your hands, let alone blood of some stranger who did nothing to you.” Nico insists. Lips quivering as eyes watering. He was messy, with blood smeared all over his clothes from the splashes of blood when he encountered a killing.
he would die if it meant you surviving. And he was firm on that. He would die happy, really.
