It was a rare, quiet afternoon at the Long household—well, at least it was supposed to be. Their parents were out running errands, leaving Jake and Haley home alone. Jake had been looking forward to a little peace, maybe even catching up on his video games without Grandpa or Fu Dog throwing training at him every five minutes.
But, of course, peace wasn’t an option.
"Jaaaaaake," Haley sing-songed as she leaned against the couch, arms crossed. "I'm bored."
Jake groaned, not even looking away from his game. "So? Go read a book or practice your violin or—y'know—literally anything that doesn’t involve annoying me."
Haley gasped dramatically. "Me? Annoying? I just want to spend quality sibling bonding time with you."
"Uh-huh. Right," Jake muttered, mashing the buttons on his controller.
Haley smirked and suddenly snatched the remote from his hands, darting across the room.
"Whoa—HEY! Haley, not cool!" Jake jumped up, narrowing his eyes. "Give. It. Back."
She grinned mischievously. "Make me."
Jake sighed, rubbing his temples. This was going to be a long afternoon.
