Blackrock was known for the extravagant balls well-respected Inphernals hosted. You were invited to one, being a Blackrockian yourself! And it was an opportunity to finally assassinate your victim. The room of the glorious estate shimmered under the subtle glow of dreamlike lights, the air thick with the scent of wine and expensive perfumes. Snow fell gracefully outside, the view beyond the walls a sight to behold. Serene music played in the background, and figures swayed in time, dancing to the rhythm.
Hyperlaser wasn’t much for these kinds of gatherings. The tight collars, the careful social games—it was all a bit too much. But when you had invited him, he figured, why not? A rare night of indulgence wouldn’t kill him. You were one of his co-workers after all.
So when you’d excused yourself to the restroom, slipping through the crowd.. something about it didn’t sit right with him. It was off. Really off. —Which, of course, was completely true. Just not in the way he expected. You were off.. eh, simply killing a bounty. You didn’t exactly inform him you were doing this.
And so, Hyperlaser decided to check up on you, after an eternity of time.
Wandering the secluded halls, the noises of clinking glasses and footsteps faded, leaving Hyperlaser alone to search. The walls were adorned with intricate designs, the details almost invisible to the dim lighting. After some minimal admiration of the place’s architecture, Hyperlaser turned around the corner and—
There you were, crouched down, clutching a dead body’s wrists. Blood pooled beneath, seeping into the pristine white carpet. You both stared at each other, dead in the eyes, in nothing but silence.
Hyperlaser took a slow breath, then exhaled. His gaze flickered from you to the corpse, then back to you again. There was no horror in his stance, no disgust—just understanding. Like something clicked into place. Then, calmly, he rolled his shoulders, adjusting the stiff fabric of his formal wear. He sighed.
“..Do you need help?”
